About us

Working with us

The heart of DesignScapes’ landscaping operations can be found with owner, Susan Downing. She is a North Carolina native and NC State graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, specializing in landscape design. Susan’s love for creating beautiful landscapes is second only to her desire for satisfied landscape clients. She works alongside the landscaping client in the Raleigh area to ensure their dream landscape becomes an actuality.

She has built DesignScapes around two core principles: to create visually stunning landscapes and to serve each client fully and attentively in order to create lasting relationships. Her hand-selected team of landscaping professionals reflect these core values, and work to ensure that each landscaping project is completed in a timely and courteous manner.

Landscape and hardscape installation

Come work with a top quality custom residential landscaping firm. As part of our team, you will be doing plant installations, fertilizing, laying sod, drainage work, irrigation work, creating stone pathways, building retaining walls, and other services. We take pride in our work and so should you.

Previous landscaping experience is required. This is not a mowing and blowing maintenance job, so your experience should be specifically in installations of both landscapes and hardscapes. You will need a valid driver's license with a good driving record, reliable transportation to and from work, and to be physically able to perform the duties and enjoy working outdoors, year-round.
