A back garden in North Raleigh where the ground fell away from the deck, so the walkway needed a wall to hold the bed above it.
Stone
The path is irregular flagstone, laid to a consistent width and running straight out from the deck steps. Along the high side it is edged with a drystack stone wall, built up course by course without mortar, which retains the mulched bed behind it.
Planting
Hostas and shade planting were set into the bed on the low side, where they get the cover of the deck and the trees above.
