Installed

A sloping, wooded lot in Wildwood Green, where the garden had to work around mature hardwoods, a children's play area and a good deal of shade.

The beds

Broad new borders were cut and mulched around the lawn, then planted with loropetalum, dwarf conifers and a weeping blue atlas cedar as the specimen. Spacing was set for how the plants will look once they have grown in, not for how they look the week they go in.

Front of the house

At the front, a red laceleaf Japanese maple anchors the entry planting, with low evergreens and hydrangea carrying the beds along the walk and around the stone foundation.

This is the second yard we have planted for this family.
